About
Hi. My name is Lydia Shi. Welcome to Your Property Matters.
I have been a real estate agent for more than 10 years. To be honest, I never imagine myself doing this, much less enjoying the journey.
Having been in communications (marketing & corporate communications) ever since I graduated, real estate was a complete change.
I enjoy writing, meeting people and learning new things.
My first job – a project to organise a National Disability Awareness Campaign with the National Council of Social Service and the then Ministry of Community Youth and Sports was deeply satisfying and set the path for me for the next 8 years.
I’ve been with Tan Tock Seng Hospital (charity arm), Ernst and Young and ComfortDelGro & SBS Transit – handling marketing, events and media relations.
Introduction to Real Estate
A friend planted this thought. She remarked that I would make a good property agent. She saw that I possessed traits that she feels buyers & sellers would appreciate. Talk about a good recruitment pitch! 😉
She arranged for me to speak to her cousin who eventually became my manager. She shared that real estate, like most jobs, required dedication, loads of hard work and long hours – similar to what I was doing.
The only difference would be the ability to control and plan our time based on our other needs & commitments as well. And the value we help create will determine our renumeration. It was appealing and I decided to give it a try.
There was no looking back.
My Clients Are My Partners
Your property is more than just a residence – it is a refuge from the outside world, a place to create memories with loved ones and a home. But in the overall scheme – it is where your monies are parked – essentially an investment.
It can be an asset. It can also be a liability if you don’t manage it well.
That’s why your property… matters!
I see myself as an advisor, so it is crucial I work with like-minded individuals. I’ve been very fortunate to have met wonderful clients who have trusted me with their properties.
It is extremely fulfilling and heartening when I’ve helped my clients purchase their dream house or manage their investment so well that they insist all their close friends and family engage me as their sole realtor.
Often, I can only perform well if my partners trust me enough to adopt my suggestions, new strategies and ideas. It may seem a small thing – but trust and mutual respect are two things I treasure.
My clients and my own family has been my greatest motivation to carry on what I do.
